WoW Forever Paladin Leveling Guide
WoW Forever Paladin leveling starts slowly and gets much better once you have a strong weapon, Consecration and the right talents. This guide shows what to expect at each level, which talents to take first and how to stop running out of mana.

Why your Paladin feels slow at first
A common first question is when a WoW Forever Paladin gets better. At level 7, you only have a seal, Judgement and Holy Strike, so three enemies at once can beat you. That is normal for a low-level WoW Forever Paladin, and the table below shows what changes next.
| Level | You get | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Seal of Righteousness | Your main damage seal |
| 2 | Holy Light | Your main healing spell |
| 4 | Judgement, Blessing of Might | Your first real damage button and a one-hour attack power buff |
| 6 | Holy Strike, Divine Protection | A second attack, and six seconds of immunity for emergencies |
| 8 | Hammer of Justice, Purify | A stun to escape or heal, and a cure for poisons and diseases |
| 10 | Talents, Seal of Fury, Blessing of Protection | Your first build choice, a tanking seal and physical immunity for an ally |
| 12 | Redemption | Your resurrection spell |
| 14 | Blessing of Wisdom | One hour of extra mana regeneration |
| 16 | Retribution Aura, Righteous Fury | Damage against anything that hits you, and more threat for tanking |
| 20 | Consecration, Blessing of Kings | Your AoE spell, and the point where mana starts to matter |
| 40 | Dual specialization, class mount | Keep a second role without paying to respec |
| 44 | Hammer of Wrath | An execute for targets at 20% health or lower |
Best spec for WoW Forever Paladin leveling
Start your WoW Forever Paladin in the Retribution tree. Method says you cannot really go wrong with any spec, but it favors Retribution early because of its mana talents and Pursuit of Justice. Wowhead also calls Retribution one of the easiest specs to level, thanks to its self-sustain and emergency tools.
Protection is a fair WoW Forever Paladin leveling choice if you enjoy dungeons or want to run around gathering a few enemies at a time. Players who tried all three tanks describe it as slow and steady, with good AoE threat. Early Protection talents add less power, so many players stay in Retribution until level 40, then add a tank build with dual specialization.

Leveling talents, level by level
A WoW Forever Paladin gets one talent point per level from level 10, and each talent row needs five more points in that tree. This order follows Method's path, and it reaches Pursuit of Justice as soon as a WoW Forever Paladin can take it.
| Level | Talent | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 10-14 | Benediction or Deflection (5 points) | Row 1 of Retribution. See the comparison below. |
| 15-17 | Sanctified Judgement (3 points) | At full rank, each Judgement returns 60% of the judged seal's mana cost. |
| 18-19 | Improved Judgement (2 points) | Judgement comes back 2 seconds sooner. |
| 20-21 | Pursuit of Justice (2 points) | 15% movement speed at full rank, the upgrade most worth rushing. |
| 22+ | Conviction and Sacred Arbiter, or Holy | Conviction adds up to 6% crit. Divine Strength, Improved Seals and Holy Conduit are the Holy option. |

Benediction or Deflection?
This is the biggest debate in WoW Forever Paladin leveling. Guides and players disagree, so here is what each talent does and who it suits.
Benediction
Five points make instant spells and abilities cost 10% less mana. Method takes it first for leveling, and Wowhead's PvE Retribution build keeps it at level 60.
Take it if you run out of mana before you run out of health.
Deflection
Five points add 5% parry. A popular Reddit analysis also points out that a parry speeds up your next swing. Wowhead's PvP Retribution build takes it over Benediction.
Take it if you quest alone and often fight more than one enemy.
That analysis also compares Benediction with Holy Conduit, which cuts the cost of Consecration, Exorcism, Holy Wrath and Hammer of Wrath by 40% for two points. It is a strong discount, but it sits on row 3 of the Holy tree, so you must first spend 10 points in Holy. The analysis was written before the October 30 hotfix, so treat it as a useful argument and not a final answer.

How to fix mana problems
Mana is the main limit on WoW Forever Paladin leveling after level 20. These habits help the most:
- Use Consecration when several enemies are on you, not on every single target.
- Avoid spells for five seconds when you can, so your mana starts to regenerate.
- Take Sanctified Judgement early, because it refunds mana every time you use Judgement at full rank.
- Balance healing against damage. Finding the right mix keeps you fighting for longer.

Weapons are your biggest upgrade
Method says a weapon is the most important upgrade for any WoW Forever Paladin spec, ideally with spell power and high weapon damage. It names Rhahk'Zor's Hammer and Scepter of the Abandoned as early examples. Players also report big jumps from slow two-handed quest rewards around level 14.
Check other weapon types for your WoW Forever Paladin too. One player notes that axes can be trained in Ironforge for 10 silver, so a Human Paladin is not limited to maces. We have not tested this ourselves.

Your rotation while leveling
The early WoW Forever Paladin rotation is short. Keep Seal of Righteousness active, use Judgement whenever it is ready, then use Holy Strike. Judgement is off the global cooldown and no longer consumes your seal, so there is no reason to hold it. Retribution Aura at level 16 and Consecration at level 20 then add more damage.
Holy Strike can feel weak on a new WoW Forever Paladin because its damage depends on your weapon. It improves with a slower weapon and with talents such as Sacred Arbiter, which adds 20% damage. To practice your buttons, try the free WoW Forever rotation simulator.

Tanking dungeons while you level
A WoW Forever Paladin can tank dungeons on the way to 60, but has no reliable ranged pull. Players work around this in three ways: walk in and pull by hand, buy Engineering explosives, or ask a Hunter or Mage to pull. Agree on the plan first, because a pet on aggressive can pull extra enemies. Your taunt also comes from judging Seal of Fury, so keep Judgement ready when a pull goes wrong.

Frequently asked questions
Usually with your first strong weapon, then again at level 20 when you train Consecration. Pursuit of Justice at levels 20 and 21 also makes quests feel faster.
Method recommends starting a WoW Forever Paladin in the Retribution tree for its early mana talents and movement speed. It also says you cannot go far wrong with any spec, so Protection is fine if you plan to tank.
Choose Deflection if you take a lot of hits while questing alone. Choose Benediction if you run out of mana first. Neither choice stops your WoW Forever Paladin leveling.
Consecration is the usual cause once you reach level 20. Save it for groups, keep Blessing of Wisdom in mind for long sessions and take Sanctified Judgement early.
Method lists the level 40 mount as a spell from your class trainer, which leaves more gold for dual specialization.
