WoW Forever Paladin

WoW Forever Paladin Talents

WoW Forever Paladin talents were rebuilt shortly before launch, so older beta builds are often wrong. This page gives you a starting build for each role, explains what each capstone does and shows where to plan your own build.

How WoW Forever Paladin talents work

Talents begin at level 10, and you have 51 points at level 60. Each tree has seven rows, and every row needs five more points in that tree, so a capstone on the last row needs 30 points first. Dual specialization arrives at level 40, which lets you keep two builds.

Because 51 points cannot fill three trees, every WoW Forever Paladin has to choose. Most builds go deep in one tree, then spend the rest on useful early talents in the other two.

Retribution talents

Unsealed Wrath is the capstone. Your melee attacks store a copy of your active seal for 15 seconds, up to three times. Landing an attack with a different seal then gives the stored seal its normal chance to activate once per stack. Wowhead's build uses this with Seal of Command and Seal of Righteousness.

Other key WoW Forever Paladin talents for this spec include Sacred Arbiter, which adds 20% to Holy Strike and refreshes every Judgement on the target, and Champion of the Light, which turns Intellect into spell damage. That makes spell power and Intellect some of the strongest stats for this build, according to Wowhead.

Protection talents

Shieldsworn is the capstone. It cuts the cooldown of Holy Strike by 4 seconds, and Holy Strike then strikes with your shield. That triggers Holy Shield and Shield Specialization without using their charges. Wowhead rates it as very strong against magic damage.

Wowhead describes WoW Forever Paladin tank builds as a balance between defense and threat, and warns against going to either extreme. Its standard 0/35/16 build also takes Sacred Arbiter, which is most useful when your raid has no Retribution Paladin to refresh Judgements.

Holy talents

Light's Vigil is the capstone. It gives a WoW Forever Paladin healer a tool for group damage through Holy Shock, but Icy Veins warns that its mana cost is very high, so spamming it is risky.

Reverence lets part of your mana regeneration continue while casting, and Infusion of Light turns critical Holy Shock or Flash of Light casts into a faster Holy Light. Wowhead's raid build goes straight to the capstone and takes every healing increase along the way.

What players are choosing

One public calculator for WoW Forever Paladin talents shows Retribution in 46% of its builds, Protection in 37% and Holy in 17%. Its most common picks were Conviction at 75%, Improved Judgement at 74% and Pursuit of Justice at 67%. These figures only cover that site's users as of November 5, so they show interest, not what performs best.

Common talent mistakes

  • Copying a beta build. Wowhead warns that builds changed massively between beta and launch, so much of what players learned in beta is out of date.
  • Using raid talents while leveling. A WoW Forever Paladin needs mana and movement speed first. Method skips some endgame talents until level 60 for this reason.
  • Rushing a capstone you cannot reach yet. A capstone needs 30 points in its tree first, so a WoW Forever Paladin cannot take one before level 40.
  • Ignoring threat as a tank. Going all in on defense can leave you struggling to hold enemies, so balance both sides.
  • Treating popular builds as proven. Until raids open, nobody has real endgame data for WoW Forever Paladin talents, so popular builds are still educated guesses.

Plan and share your build

Frequently asked questions

You get 51 points by level 60, starting with one point at level 10.

It depends on your role. Wowhead's starting points are 14/6/31 for Retribution, 0/35/16 for Protection and 31/7/13 for a raiding Holy Paladin. Expect these to change after raids open on December 9.

You can, but it is not ideal. Leveling talents favor mana and movement speed, while raid builds favor throughput. Dual specialization at level 40 helps you keep both.
